Privacy notice for Ahead

How the current Android app and this support website handle your information.

Effective date: 29 September 2026

This notice describes the current Android development build. Final hosting settings still need verification.

This notice explains how Ahead for Android and its support website handle information.

The complete English support guide and privacy notice are bundled in Ahead and available offline. External provider links are optional; opening them requires a browser and an internet connection.

Information in the Android app

Ahead does not require an Ahead account. The agenda and settings you create are stored on your device. They may include appointment titles, dates, times, locations, notes, checklists, completion status, reminder settings, and (for calendar imports) identifiers used to refresh the selected calendar entries. Ahead does not provide an online account or agenda-sync service.

When you paste appointment text, Ahead processes it on your device to prepare a draft. Ahead does not read your SMS inbox or scan messages in other apps. When you scan a letter, the Android app uses on-device text recognition. The scan image is copied temporarily into app cache and the scan and picker copies are removed after processing or cancellation; a copy may remain if the app closes unexpectedly until cleanup runs. Your original gallery photo is not changed. Recognized text is shown for you to review and is not added to appointment notes automatically. Nothing becomes a saved appointment until you confirm and save it. You must enter Arabic scan dates and times manually and review all extracted fields.

If you connect calendars, Ahead reads events from the calendars you select and keeps local copies for display and reminders. Calendar access is read-only: Ahead does not change or delete the original events. Disconnecting a calendar removes its imported copies from Ahead.

Information sent to other services

Address suggestions

As you type a place or street address, Ahead sends that text over HTTPS to the public Photon address service after a short pause to find suggestions. A request can be sent before you select a suggestion, and typing without selecting a result does not prevent the lookup. Photon receives the query and ordinary connection information, such as your IP address. Ahead does not include appointment titles, notes, calendar contents, or GPS coordinates in this lookup. You can enter an address yourself without selecting a suggestion; previously saved addresses can be used offline, and manual entry remains available when the service is unavailable. Photon’s public demo service may limit requests and does not guarantee availability; see Photon’s service information and Photon.

Maps and sharing

If you choose to open a location in Google Maps, Ahead passes the address or search text to the Maps link. Google or the browser then handles it under its own terms. If you share appointment details or a calendar invitation, Ahead sends the selected content to the destination you choose through Android’s share sheet. Notes are included only if you turn on Include notes. A shared invitation file may remain in app cache after the share sheet closes so the recipient can read it. Recipients and other sharing services control what happens to their copies.

Backups

If you export a backup, Ahead creates a plain, unencrypted JSON file containing your local appointments, notes, checklists, and preferences, then opens the share sheet for you to choose where it goes. The temporary file may remain in app cache after sharing. The destination may keep or upload another copy. When you import a backup, Ahead reads the file you select using Android’s document picker and processes a private cache copy; the original file stays where it was. Keep exported files somewhere private and delete copies separately from the places where you saved them.

Planned support website hosting

These support and privacy pages use Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare’s privacy policy describes processing information about people who use services on customer websites, which may include IP addresses, traffic-routing data, system-configuration information, and other information about traffic to customer sites. Cloudflare may process this information to provide, maintain, and protect its services. The exact processing, retention, and locations depend on the service and account settings. See Cloudflare’s Privacy Policy.

The static-page source has no sign-in, contact form, or authored analytics scripts. Cloudflare Web Analytics is a separate optional feature. Cloudflare may use host-managed cookies or security behavior; its policies and settings describe those practices. This notice does not promise that the hosting service collects no technical data or uses no cookies. See Cloudflare Web Analytics for Pages.

Support contact

For support or privacy questions, email wisam.appstudio@gmail.com. If you email us, we receive your email address, message, and any attachments you choose to send. Google/Gmail processes the message and related delivery information to provide email; see Google’s Privacy Policy. We use support correspondence to reply, troubleshoot, and handle privacy requests. We keep it as needed to follow up and meet applicable legal obligations; we have not set a fixed deletion period. Please do not email appointment letters, appointment details, or other sensitive information unless needed for your request. The public pages have no contact form.

Reminders and permissions

When you enable reminders and grant the requested Android permissions, Ahead schedules local notifications on your device. Appointment reminders do not use a remote push-notification service. Notification content and delivery depend on your device’s notification, alarm, lock-screen, and power settings; delivery is not guaranteed. Calendar permission is requested when you connect calendars, and camera permission only when you choose camera scanning. Selecting an existing photo uses Android’s system picker. You can deny these permissions and enter appointments manually.

Retention and deletion

Appointments you add remain on your device until you edit or remove them, clear the local agenda, or replace it by restoring a backup. Imported calendar copies can be updated or removed during refresh. Choose Settings → Manage local data → Clear local appointments to remove the local agenda, disconnect calendars, and turn off reminders. This does not delete original calendar events. Ahead attempts to clear reminders for removed appointments; if Android cannot clear one, check the device’s notification settings.

The current Android app is configured to exclude its data from Android automatic backup and supported device-transfer backup. This setting does not erase data already on your device or copies already exported. Some device manufacturers may still transfer app data. A backup, invitation, or shared copy saved outside Ahead must be deleted separately. Uninstalling Ahead and managing data held by Android, Cloudflare, Photon, Maps, or a share destination are handled under those providers’ processes and settings.

Privacy requests

Depending on the privacy laws that apply and the circumstances, you may have rights to ask about personal information, including access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, or a portable copy. Contact wisam.appstudio@gmail.com to make a request or ask a question. You may also complain to your local data protection authority; if you are in Sweden, see the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection (IMY). Photon, Google Maps, Cloudflare, Google/Gmail, and any sharing destination handle information they receive under their own terms and privacy notices.

We may update this notice when Ahead or its data handling changes. The effective date above indicates the latest revision. For product guidance while offline, open Settings → Help and privacy → Support guide in Ahead.
